Funding

WMLS is principally funded by the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC), which distributes funds budgeted by the Massachusetts legislature and from the Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program. MLAC is a public corporation created by the Commonwealth to support legal assistance to the poor. We also receive grants from area Agencies on Aging; the Massachusetts Bar Foundation; the cities of Springfield, Pittsfield and North Adams; the United Way organizations in Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire and Northern Berkshire counties; Berkshire, Davis and Verizon Foundations, The Union Community Funds; attorneys fees, Western New England College and private donations.
