Eligibility for WMLS Services
You may be eligible for our services if you are a low income person with a non-criminal legal problem who lives within our service area.
Persons under age 60 must meet our income limits. For people who work, we look at wages after taxes. If you’re 60 or over, you don’t have to meet our income limits. If you’re an elder, your eligibility depends on the type of problem you have. Select this page to see the types of cases WMLS handles.
WMLS INCOME GUIDELINES
Normally, clients with income over 125% of federal poverty guidelines are not eligible for WMLS services. We do make exceptions to this rule and accept clients who are up to 187½ of federal poverty guidelines if applicants have exceptional medical expenses, child care, transportation or other expenses related to employment or if they have other significant factors related to their ability to pay for legal expenses.
